Not sure if Ktm is the same as Vw, but ime a good way to check crank angle sensor is to see if you have rpm on the instrument cluster while cranking. Ecu uses sensor to calculate engine speed/cranking and then fires up coils/injectors. You should have around a 200rpm reading while cranking if sensor is good. The 890 Adventure R’s are a great bike to ride, best in the category for performance, handling, suspension. Sadly the reliability and KTM aftercare is a liability. Once my cams are fixed I am selling it and won’t buy a KTM again unless they acknowledge the issues and say they are fixed. Hey anyone. We’ve rented some 2021 890 adventure R. Two mornings in a row a bike that ran the day before won’t start. Cranks. Won’t fire. We tried starting fluid. Plenty of battery and cranking. The rental place hasn’t solved the issue on the previous bike they picked up. We’re now 200 miles from them. Best thing would be charge the battery fully then pull the negative terminal off until your ready to ride again. Bought my 2020 790 in September, put on 1200 miles. Early November after sitting for a week and a half it wouldn't start. Had it jumped and it was fine the next few rides. I have owned 3 KTM's, 2 bmw's and 7 japanese bikes. 0 problem with the japanese brands, a lot of troubles with 1 bmw, small problems on 1 of my ktm's and a lot of problems on another of my ktm's. The thing is: I have forgotten all my previous bikes, except 2 of my ktm's, because they were the most fun bikes I have ever ridden. Qwd0h.
